You have a junk drawer, right?
I hope I’m not the only one.
It’s where I put all the random crap I can’t find a place for.
Rubber bands. Twisty ties. A variety of pens (some work, some probably don’t). A pair of scissors. Mystery screws I have no idea what they belong to. A little coin purse I don’t remember ever owning.
It’s fine, right? I mean, we all need a place to put those things.
But over time, that drawer just keeps filling up with more and more junk. At this point, the drawer won’t even open properly because it’s so stuffed full! And even when I do actually need a rubber band, I have to dig through way too much junk in that drawer to find it.
Ugh. MESSY. It drives me crazy.
And online? Don’t get me started.
It’s SO much easier to collect piles and piles of random stuff because you don’t really see it. It’s all digital and easily hidden away.
That is… until you actually need to find something.
Be honest – can you find that download you signed up for a couple of months ago in just one or two clicks?
Way too many online businesses are operating like this 👇
They look great on the surface. But that picture-perfect image is often hiding a big ol’ mess of franken-systems and cluttered files.
Over time, just like that junk drawer, it gets worse and begins to impact your productivity and business progress. And you may not even realise it’s happening until one day you’re finally fed up with wading through pages of outdated files and disorganised folders trying to find that ONE THING you need.
That’s why I’m a big fan of a good Spring Clean.
You know how when you finally clean up a messy room it just makes everything better?
You feel accomplished, organised, and ready to get down to business.
Well, the same is true for your online business.
Your files, all those apps you use, your computer desktop, emails, socials, notifications and all the rest of it… When you finally take a little time to tidy up, organise, and declutter – you feel clearer and calmer. You feel productive and motivated to move forward. You’re ready to dive into those big projects you know will help your business grow.
If this hits home for you, take this as a gentle nudge to look around your business.
